When will it happen?

Chip and PINAfter 14th February 2006, you must use your PIN to be sure you can pay with your Chip and PIN card. All banks throughout the UK are now issuing PIN Protected cards.

Some retailers will be quicker than others at installing the new keypads. So if you shop somewhere which hasn’t installed the new keypads yet, don't worry, you'll still be able to pay in the usual way by signing your name on the receipt.

Chip and PIN has become the standard way to authorise card payments across the UK. It’s easy, it’s secure and it’s free.
